Party Wall Surveyor

Why do you need a Party Wall Surveyor.

The process is best explained in an excellent Government publication available for download here.

If your work is fairly straightforward and you can agree with your adjoining owner (neighbour) then the appointment of an agreed surveyor is probably the right choice. Although you will pay his/her fees they will be acting impartially.

If the work is complicated or there is a significant risk then both parties having their own surveyor is the right choice. This is the only choice if you can not agree with your adjoining owner. You normally pay for both surveyors.

Although we are happy to discuss the Act with you and recommend a course of action Arnold Gilpin cannot act for you as a Party Wall Surveyor he is your Architect because there would be a conflict of interest.

We work for you either as your Party Wall Surveyor or as an Agreed Surveyor or sometimes we are nominated as a third Surveyor.
